FRUIT DIET

All fruits contain acids which are necessary for the proper elimination of various toxins, poisonous acids, and other impurities. Natural acids are highly alkaline. The value of a fruit diet cannot be over-estimated, especially in sickness, ill-health, or whenever the body is filled with poisons. germs cannot live and grow in fruit juices. Typhoid fever and cholera germs cannot resist the action of fruit juices such as lemons, orange, pineapple, strawberry, apple and grapefruit. A fruit diet will disinfect the stomach and alimentary canal. Fresh fruits are more effective for this purpose than stewed fruits. Citric, malic, tartaric acids are powerful germicides found in fruits. Malic acid is found in pineapples, apples, quinces, pears, apricots, plums, peaches, cherries, currants, gooseberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, elderberries, grapes and tomatoes. MEDICINAL TREES- PINE, POPLAR, CEDAR

PINE-In the stately pine I see wonderful properties which are useful for bronchial and maternal troubles, rheumatism, kidney troubles, coughs, throat troubles,  influenza,  tonsillitis and croup POPLAR- In looking at the tall poplar tree, I see wonderful properties in the bud, bark, and leaves. They are useful  in the following diseases: Rheumatism, chronic diarrhea, cholera infantum, intermittent fever, jaundice,  liver, kidney troubles,  hay fever, diabetes, influenza, neuralgia, la grippe, and used externally for cancers, bad ulcers, gangrenous wounds, eczema and sciatica. CEDAR-In the beautiful cedar there are splendid medical properties for coughs, fevers, pulmonary catarrh, rheumatism, and scurvy.  The leaves and twigs, when boiled in white vaseline or cocoa fat, make an excellent salve.

MEDICAL TREES- OAK

The inner bark of the lofty oak has wonderful healing properties, as do the leaves, and acorn cups. a tea of the bark, and the powder of the cups are excellent for bleeding at the mouth, and spitting of blood and to stay vomiting, or other fluxes, in both man and woman. The powder of the acorn made into a tea resists the poison of venomous creatures. A tea made from the acorns and bark resist the force of poisonous medicines, and will also check the involuntary passing of the natural seed. It is also excellent in ulcerated bladder and bloody urine. The distilled water of the buds, before they become leaves, can be used either outwardly or inwardly for inflammations, burning fevers, and infections. The water of the leaves are especially excellent for whites. It is also very useful in the following diseases: Leucorrhea, womb troubles, piles, troubles in the rectum, hemorrhages, varicose veins, to normalize the kidneys, liver, and spleen, goiter, hardened neck, tumors, and swellings. Pulling-  place hands on both sides of the arms, rolling backward and forward,  up and down the arm. Stroking-  lay hands flat on the part of the body being massaged. Move hands slowly  downward. Stroking is a sedative when gently  applied to the spine. Stroking the abdomen increases the activity of the bowels and should always follow the course of the colon. Place the hands low down on the right side, and down opposite the point of starting. One or both hands may be used. Clapping- clapping and percussion are particularly the same thing. Clap the surface with the palms of the hands. Chopping- this is similar to clapping, except that the sides of the hands are used. The blow should be quick, using little force. Strike the surface with edges of the fingers, keeping them apart , so that they clap together with each stroke. Strike alternately with each hand.

MASSAGE

massage is a systematic rubbing and manipulation of the body. Massage prevents stiffness, promotes circulation, and brings health and tone. By massage the muscles are exercised as fully as possible without exhaustion, and the blood is propelled to greater activity. Massage is one of the most valuable of remedial measures. When used in combination with water, it accomplishes amazing results. It assists in building of the blood and rebuilding of the tissues in general. Common sense and consideration for the condition of the patient must be used. For those who are weak or delicate, massage should be light until muscles become accustomed to the treatment, then more pressure and force may be used. Give massage after hot bath or fomentations. Lubricate the skin with olive oil or cocoa fat. Always stroke toward the heart. When possible have a high table, so that the attendant does not have to stoop. The patient should lie flat on the back with all muscles relaxed. The patient must draw up

DROPSY

Causes- dropsy is an accumulation of watery fluid in the cellular tissues or in any of the cavities of the body, as the chest or abdomen, and may be due to the disease of the heart, liver, kidneys, lungs and peritoneum. anything that will cause the blood to become poisoned or the red corpuscles to die may result in dropsy. in most cases it is caused by a crippled heart or kidneys. sometimes the liver and gall bladder are so diseased and inflamed that they will not function normally, and a dropsical condition will arise, causing the abdominal cavity to fill up with fluid. it may be that the kidneys are the cause. in the case of Bright's disease, when the kidneys are not able to function properly dropsy will result. Treatment- generally a complete change should be made in the diet, leaving off all alcoholics drinks, cocoa, chocolate, tea, coffee, coco cola and all other such drinks. no flesh foods, pies, cakes, or rich pastries should be indulged in. * all foods should be eate
